About Us

Our business was founded by Joseph McDonnell in 1965 in Orchard Park, NY. Mr. McDonnell began with no showroom and carried samples in the back of his station wagon. The garage at his home served as the company’s first warehouse facility.

What started as a flooring supplier to new home builders grew into a business which opened its first satellite retail location in 1974. Today, Custom Carpet Centers has expanded to five full-service flooring locations across the Buffalo-Niagara region. We also provide shop-at-home services throughout Western New York, allowing customers to work with one of our experienced flooring specialists right in the space they’ll be designing or renovating. Flooring remains our specialty, and we take pride in our expertise.

We’re still locally-owned and operated, and carry and specialize in the installation of Carpet, Hardwood, Laminate, Luxury Vinyl Plank and Tile, Waterproof Flooring and Resilient Flooring.
